Everyone needs to lose weight…
Give us a break!
The first question everyone should ask themselves is why do you want to lose weight and will it benefit your health? If you're not happy with your answers to those questions, this may not be the best product for you. Don’t fall into the trap of equating weight-loss to happiness, and don’t believe anyone that tells you different.
That said, a recent survey found that almost half of UK adults had tried to lose weight in the last year, so we know this is one of the biggest concerns people had. If you’re in that camp, we understand. It’s ok to want to lose fat, albeit in a healthy, controlled way. No fad diets, no restrictions, no nonsense.
Formulated by leading nutritionists, The Lean Protein is a genuinely delicious protein powder that is the perfect partner to help you get lean, tone up, and lose body fat, alongside a sensible diet and workout routine. Because your goals are achievable.
Is this a meal replacement?
Our protein blends are not designed to be consumed as a meal replacement, but instead as a healthy addition to a balanced diet. They’re great as a midday refuel - or just whenever you’re feeling peckish! If you’re looking for something filling that keeps you going until your next meal, consider blending up a protein smoothie with some healthy fruit and vegetables. Sign-up to our email newsletter and we’ll send over some recipes.
How often should I take it?
At Innermost we believe in a food-first approach. For that reason, we recommend taking The Lean Protein as part of a balanced diet any time during your day as a healthy snack to meet your protein needs. You should always aim to meet most of your nutrient needs through the food you eat but having a high-quality protein powder like The Lean Protein, which contains additional ingredients to support your goals can be an efficient way to help fill gaps in your diet.
Does it have a complete amino acid profile?
Yes! The Lean Protein provides a complete amino acid profile per serving as follows: Leucine (2.9g), Isoleucine (1.9g), Valine (1.8g), Alanine (1.6g), Arginine (0.7g), Aspartic Acid (3.4g), Cystine (0.7g), Glutamic Acid (5.5g), Glycine (0.4g), Histidine (0.5g), Lysine (2.8g), Methionine (0.7g), Phenylalanine (0.9g), Proline (1.7g), Serine(1.5g), Threonine (2.0g), Tryptophan (0.4g), Tyrosine (0.7g).
Will The Lean Protein make me bulky?
No! ‘Bulkiness’ is a result of continuous muscle training usually employing heavy weights and a specific high-calorie diet, and can take a lot of effort and time. In reality, protein keeps you fuller for longer so it can actually help you get more toned and defined alongside a sensible diet and physical activity.
Nutrient heavy and evidence-based products, rather than pure fluff. The Lean Protein features inulin, a substance linked to lower levels of visceral fat (the killer kind...), along with high quality protein to aid muscle repair and recovery, yerba mate for energy, and pomegranate and bilberries for an antioxidant rush. Basically, a research based post-workout beverage of dreams.
Science over hype
With so many “miracle” ingredients being touted out there, it can be hard to know what really works. We believe evidence-based ingredients are the best way to better health. With decades of clinical studies behind these active ingredients showing how they can help reduce cravings, encourage sustainable fat-loss, support muscle repair and speed up recovery, we're confident that you’ll thank us later.
Protein (29g): The building block of bones, muscles, hair, skin, and nails, this blend of dairy-based whey concentrate and isolate contains all the essential amino acids your body needs for repair, recovery and muscle development. References >1, 2.
Inulin (1g): Advanced research in weight management emphasises recognising the importance of our gut as a metabolic organ. Inulin is a prebiotic fibre that encourages growth of good gut bacteria linked to lower levels of fat. References > 3, 4.
Acetyl L-Carnitine (750mg): A non-essential amino acid necessary for transporting fat to the body’s power-generating mitochondria. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to use fat effectively as a source of energy, which could result in the body having to break down muscle instead. References > 5, 6.
Pomegranates (500mg): This fruit has sparked interest in recent years largely due to its punicalagin and ellagic acid content. These compounds are retained in the gut where they encourage the growth of good gut bacteria linked to lower levels of fat. References > 7, 8.
Yerba Mate (500mg): Dried leaves of an evergreen holly tree native to South America. An incredibly high antioxidant content and has been shown to have possible effects in the area of weight management, which could be due to it helping delay intestinal absorption of dietary fat. References > 9, 10.
Bilberries (250mg): Belonging to a class of natural bioactives with wide-reaching health benefits, including improving cardiovascular health, glucose control and inflammation. These dark berries are rich in antioxidants and resveratrol, which are seeing increased use for their purported anti-aging properties. References > 11, 12.
Be the best version of you
Protein is a macronutrient that’s necessary for healthy muscles, skin, nails and bones. Whey protein concentrate and isolate are loaded with the essential amino acids that your body needs to function efficiently. As a high-quality source of protein, whey also lowers blood pressure, decreases inflammation and reduces cravings.
Pomegranates, yerba mate, bilberries and inulin are active ingredients that provide wide-reaching health benefits. Inulin and pomegranates have properties that encourage the growth of good bacteria, while bilberries and yerba mate are rich in antioxidants. These bioactives have been shown to positively affect weight management through their different properties.
Acetyl l-carnitine is functional for both your physical and mental health. By transporting fatty acids to the mitochondria, the supplement is effective when it comes to improving memory, increasing endurance and reducing fatigue. It allows your body to burn fat for energy, so that your workouts are optimised for muscle health and development.
When should I use the product?
Anytime during the day as a healthy snack to meet your protein needs! However, you can also use it to make a quick nutritious shake or smoothie anytime of the day, or in your porridge or oatmeal to top up your daily protein intake. The protein blend is also versatile enough to bake into high-protein snacks.
How long will the product last?
This depends on how often you use the product. Typically a pouch of our protein blends will last around a month or so. If you're using it every day and also adding it to porridge and smoothies, you may run out sooner. We have a subscription option, which saves you money and ensures you'll never run out.
What does it taste like?
All our protein blends come in either creamy vanilla or smooth chocolate. We spent months perfecting the flavour systems to create our own completely custom flavours that you won't get anywhere else. The flavours are characterised by complex layers of vanilla and cocoa, with subtle notes of caramel and biscuit. We only use natural flavours and you can adjust the sweetness down or up by using more or less liquid.
What sort of testing do you do?
We go over and above to ensure you get the best quality and safest products possible. We only use ingredients that have a visible supply chain, and our manufacturing facilities are approved to the highest regulatory standards. Once we receive ingredients, we batch test every single one before it gets approval to go into the manufacturing process. That isn’t technically an official requirement but it’s something that we think should be.
