Burn Strength Yoga

Kirsty Raynor & Alice Rickard / Q&A

We met Kirsty Raynor and Alice Rickard for the first time at an event at partner studio F45 Tottenham Court Road. One thing led to another and we ended up supporting them at one of their amazing Burn Strength Yoga (BSY) classes at ONE LDN. We thought that would also be a good opportunity to sit down with them and find out a bit more about them.

KR: After a shoulder operation when I was 23, I couldn’t really move my left arm. After 6 months of physio someone suggested Yoga. As the pain subsided, I became addicted to the power of Yoga and then all types of fitness. As soon as Barry’s Bootcamp launched, I was hooked. That’s actually where Alice and I met all those years ago. AR: We recently created Burn Strength Yoga (BSY) to take the stigma out of working out and develop a class that pushes people. Working out shapes my day and gives me those endorphins I need, and that’s essentially what Kirsty and I are doing with BSY – spreading endorphins!” – Kirsty & Alice

Q1: Favourite Innermost Blend and Booster, and why?

Blend: The Health One. We both use this vegan protein blend. It’s perfect for being on the go in between teaching classes.
Booster: The Health Plus. We love this Booster. We’re both obsessed with turmeric, which is an ingredient in this product. It’s an incredible anti-inflammatory.

Q2: What’s your hustle?

AR: Through teaching classes and social media, I’m on a mission to make people, healthier and happier and most importantly ENJOY life to the max. Fitness for me has always been about enjoyment, a release from the everyday stress. So it’s an honour that through BSY, we get to be a part of someone’s day where they let loose, have a laugh and feel better.

Q3: What does #liveinnermost mean to you?

KR: Being confident with who you are, and being comfortable in your own skin. There is nobody else in the world like you, and that’s pretty awesome.

Q4: What we’d be surprised to find in your fridge?

KR: Right now I’ve got a whole shelf dedicated to beauty products and Alice has 6 bottles of prosecco in hers!

Q5: Usual breakfast?

AR: I have porridge every day. I like to get my carb fix in the morning to fuel me for busy days. I have it with a tablespoon of peanut butter or a scoop of Innermost’s The Health One.

Q6: What’s on your bucket list?

AR: I really want to go to Tibet and the Himalayas! I have no idea why but I’m obsessed with the idea of going there.

Q7: Who motivates you?

KR: Alice motivates me so much. We work so well together and we have the same view on life. All we want is to create a confidence club and empower both men and women to feel their best. We work hard but also play hard. It’s all about the balance!

Q8: Number one reason for taking care of your body?

KR: It’s the one thing with you for your whole life. Look after your body and your body will look after you.

Q9: What’s the favourite thing about the city you live in?

KR: Living in London means every single day is different. I walk everywhere and I stumble across new coffee shops, galleries, small cobble streets every day. The buzz of this city still gets to me after living here all my adult life!

Q10: Current fitness goal?

AR: I have a few: 10 strict pull-ups, 130kg Deadlift and a 7 minute mile.

Q11: Favourite decadent meal?

AR: Lobster Pasta is my ultimate. If it’s on any menu I’m ordering it. That and all the sushi, all day long!

Q12: Message to the world (in 140 characters or less)

KR & AR: Be kind to one another.

Q13: What’s your pet peeve?

AR: Slow walkers! It drives me insane. Then again that could be because I power-walk everywhere. Haha.
