December 2020 couldn’t have come soon enough. And with the year wrapping up, it’s the perfect time to look back at the good times, the rough spots and the achievements that took place throughout this turbulent year. At Innermost, we’ve used this final month to focus on reflection. So much has happened over the past 12 months, and it feels good to take it allllllll in. To inspire us while reflecting on the year, we’ve been reading books, watching movies and trying out new activities. We love sharing our finds with the Innermost community, so without further ado here’s what we got up to in December.
Reading
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
“From childhood to now, this story finds a way to pull me in and make me feel festive. A Christmas Carol says a whole lot about reflection. It’s a reminder to think of your past, present and future and, at the heart of it, to be good.” - Caitlin
The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO by Robin Sharma
“This book is so interesting because it’s not just about self-reflection. It’s about how your inner gifts affect the bigger picture. It guides you from the inside out, making you feel motivated and empowered to make something out of the person that you are.” - Shiv
Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life by Gary John Bishop
“It’s kinda weird to think that a book that’s about getting out of your head has actually made me really rethink how I lived this year. This is the tough love that I needed right about now and I’m ready to take on the new year. 2021 is mine! I highly recommend if you’re in need of a confidence boost." - Allison
Watching
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet
“We all know and love David Attenborough, but this documentary has an unexplainable impact that makes me take a pause to appreciate the depths of the earth. By sharing his personal experience and knowledge, Attenborough makes you reflect on how your own actions affect the world around us.” - Catherine
About Time
“This has to be one of the most beautiful films of all time. It’s not a cheesy or predictable time-travel story, but it’s an incredible representation of love. It’s one of those movies that makes you sit down and think about what you really appreciate in your own life.” - Allison
Carrie Rad on Youtube
“Carrie Rad is dedicated to self-care, self-love and self-growth. Her channel on Youtube follows her honest and personal journey to achieving goals and living a fulfilling life. She always shares great advice on mindfulness, positivity and overall health.” - Caitlin
Doing
Breathwork
“Using breathing techniques is a great way to help your mental health, increase mindfulness and give you a sense of restoration. If you need a place to start, check out our IG Live over on our Instagram where Ade Clark guides you through an amazing, relaxing breathwork session.” - Shiv
Planning for 2021
“Throughout December, I’ve been gettin’ in the zone for the year ahead of us. I’ve got my 2021 calendar out and ready to go. Not gonna lie, most of the days are free at the moment with everything up in the air, but at least I’m prepared for when things get hectic next year!” - Catherine
Bedtime Yoga
“For me to get a fab night’s rest, I really have to focus on my wind-down routine. I’ve been practicing yoga just before bed, and it’s made me feel so rested when I wake up the next day. I feel like it helps me debrief and say goodnight to the day that I just had.” - Caitlin
